The Sparta Public Library is located at 211 W. Broadway, Sparta, Illinois. The Sparta Public Library provides free services to all residents living within the Sparta city limit boundaries with services available to all others for a fee.

 Sparta Public Library Announces Changes in Hours and Fees

Over the past month, the Sparta Public Library Board of Trustees and staff have been working hard to respond to necessary budget cuts proposed by the City of Sparta.  Due to its declining revenues, the city can no longer subsidize the Sparta Public Library at the rate it has in the past.  The Library Board is, accordingly, forced to make adjustments in the budget for its Fiscal Year 2010-11.  A portion of these adjustments require that the library hours of operation change, effective April 1, 2010, as follows:

                        Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday-- Noon to 7:00 p.m.

                        Wednesday & Friday--10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturdays -- 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., except for specified Saturdays

                                            Closed holidays

Also, please be advised that, effective April 1, 2010, the board has revised the library’s fee schedule as follows:

We are truly sorry for any inconvenience this new schedule and fee increases may cause our users.
